Oprah tries acupuncture!.
On her February 13th show, Oprah tried acupuncture. She allowed an
acupuncturist to insert acupuncture needles into her skin in front of a live audience.
Additionally, she sent a member of her audience back-stage to receive a full acupuncture treatment
for shoulder pain. The audience member came back at the end of the show
to report on her pain relief and describe her treatment experience. Her health series lecturer, Dr. Oz,
educated the audience on the uses of acupuncture, its long history in the East and
its growing acceptance in the West. To see pictures from the show and read Dr. Oz's comments, you can

PA state law changes to eliminate the referral
requirement.
Starting January 28, 2007, patients will no longer be required by state law to
obtain both a written referral and their last physical exam results to keep on
file with their acupuncturist. An acupuncturist may treat a patient for up to
60 days. Should treatment need to continue for more than 60 days, the patient
need only bring proof of a medical diagnosis. Since a patient cannot be denied
access to their own medical records, this means that the power to choose
acupuncture as a complimentary therapy is now in the hands of the patient. You
